New Elemental Dignity Resource

Douglas Gibb and Catherine Chapman have posted a fabulous analysis of Elemental Dignities. I have been encouraging them for some time on this. We need more writers on the subject as it gives students a better chance to understand this important divination system when there are more resources. So, now you can compare and contrast Doug’s insights with mine on Supertarot.

There is another great resource Catherine Chapman’s blog that I recommend. As you now know, Cath co-authored “Beyond the Celtic Cross” published next week, which also includes a lot about Elemental Dignities.

Good luck with your Tarot studies.

Beyond the Celtic Cross

Tarot Celtic Cross

Word is reaching me that my second book co-written with Catherine Chapman is at the publishers and fingers crossed, it will be available at the end of next week. Beyond the Celtic Cross explores powerful techniques for analysing a tarot reading at very deep levels. It all began when Catherine emailed me about problems she was having with a reading about herself.

When I looked at the cards it was easy to see why she was struggling. Rather than stay with the Celtic Cross format, I decided to apply the techniques I have been using and show Catherine how she can do it herself, rather than me simply giving a reading. And so a half hour tarot reading became a six month project that eventually took even longer when my publisher took an interest.

Since Catherine knew the techniques (she had been reading supertarot for sometime), I realised that it was not about teaching, but mentoring, bringing out the skills that were already there. Already one very tangible outcome of the book is Catherine’s blog, quite simply the best tarot blog so far.

Tarot Cam

Improving the experience of a long distance tarot reading is important, and now I am offering Tarot Cam, video readings via Skype, so all you pay for is the tarot reading via Paypal, and nothing for the call. Of course you will need a decent broadband connection, and there is no guarantee that the pictures will be perfect, but hopefully all will be well.

Seeing you will improve the reading experience for you as you will be able to see the tarot cards laid out in the spread.

If you call via the telephone you only pay your standard network charge – I do not use any premium rates. Your reading will also be done by me, so we may have to book a time. I have no plans to clone myself.

Looking forward to talking with you soon.

News on the Rider-Waite centennial anniversary

Kim has sent me a pdf of the program for the  Rider-Waite anniversary talk.

Knowing the politics around the Golden Dawn at the turn of the century is vital to understanding AE Waite’s motives for producing his tarot deck. Researching the talk has opened my eyes on a number of things – you will have to come along to find out.

How do my telephone tarot readings work?

After a number of similar questions from people wanting a phone tarot reading, I realise I need to make a few clarifications.

  • My Tarot readings use the advanced techniques I describe in Supertarot, and my book, Tarot and the Magus
  • I prefer clients to ask questions, so I know I am talking about what is important
  • All readings are confidential
  • The readings are done only by me

Any hidden charges?

  • After paying via Paypal, I will email to arrange an appointment for the reading
  • There are no hidden extra charges
  • I do not have a premium rate number – I make no money from the call
  • The readings are done only by me. You call my landline, so the cost will be the normal network charge.
  • Call on Skype and it will be even cheaper
  • Since I am not always by the computer, there may be a delay before I see your email, and I cannot always do your reading immediately

Phew… the bottom line is that you get an old-fashioned, personal service from me. The only downside is that I am not available 24/7. I would be exhausted.  If you have any more questions, please comment below.

Post Kabbalistic Tarot

Douglas Gibb has just posted on the state of the tarot ridiculing the self-styled pomposity of Initiates who use the Kabbalah. An interesting point. The association of tarot to the Kabbalistic Tree of Life serves Masonic style organisations such as the Golden Dawn, which sets up various levels of Adeptship, starting at Malkuth, and working up to Ipsissimus at Kether. While this kind of thing is good for organisations that need to boost the egos of their leaders so that they can give themselves ever more pompous titles, while hinting at dark secrets only they are privy to, and forbidden to the Great Unwashed, ie, you and me. Cameron sitting on his hands?

David Cameron is a British politician, Leader ...

Image via Wikipedia

In the interests of balance after writing about Gordon Browns’ bitten fingers, and Peter Mandelson’s disappearing thumb, I wanted to say something about the leader, and possible next Prime Minister of the UK, David Cameron’s palms, but so far I have not seen a good recent photo or video to make any conclusions. So if you know of any, please let me know.

Diabolical publish date

My contribution to Diabolical which is published on the 29th October in London, is about the Testament of Solomon, a treatise nearly two thousand years old, the inspiration for the Solomonic grimoires. Scarlet Imprint launches are always good fun, and they seem to excelled themselves this time with their hyperbolae. Personally, I am not sure the addition of the ’service’ is going to be for all tastes, but you never know.

Peter Mandelson’s thumb

There is a good video of Peter Mandelson’s speech at the Labour Conference in Brighton. My interest is not in what he says, but the way he holds his thumb.  At the start the thumb can be seen pointing away from the hand, a symbol of independence of will, but towards the end, the thumb retreats to a position inside the hand, pointing in the same direction as the fingers. Normally when the thumb is held inside the palm, it is a sign of submission and a lack of confidence. But having seen a photo of the main lines on his right hand, which are very clearly delineated, and his nails are not bitten in contrast to Gordon Brown, something else is going on.

Mandelson’s knowledge of the dark arts of spin and strategy is not really delivering the goods at the moment – even he said Labour is likely to lose the next general election – I would say that he is endeavouring to conceal his true intentions to his own party.
